Finals Day - Eurosurf 2009, Jersey, Channel Islands Photos: Colin Crowther (Presentation photos: Cirsty De Gruchy-Wilson) Click here for the Opening Ceremony pictures Report Portugal's Manuel Centeno and Catarina Sousa won the bodyboard divisions at Eurosurf 2009, hosted by the Jersey Surfboard Club as part of the their 50th anniversary. The bodyboarders faced some tough conditions for much of the event, with most of the rounds taking place in 1ft surf, with the exception of the quarter final round, which went off in 4ft strong onshores. The first of the bodyboard finals was dominated by Sousa, who worked her waves well with tidy spins and some good rolls. 2nd spot went to Deva Solar, ahead of Ireland's Ashleigh Smith in 3rd and Wales Gemma Harris 4th. The mens final saw a good battle between Centeno and French bodyboarder Martin Mouradian, who both found a little more boost in their manoeuvres then their competitors. Centeno just having the edge. 3rd spot went to Spain's Guillermo Cobo, with Hugo Pinheiro in 4th. |
